- Doug Fonville - Yo Kurabayoshi Clubs Join Roadblock for Muscular Dystrophy Early in the fall, Ju Go Ju and Galaxy sponsored their Third Annual Banana Split Sale, netting $300, which was contributed to . the fund for the new Business and Economics Building. Galaxy members also served the community by visiting the residents of Leisure Lodge and, according to club president Dan Pitts, "providing companionship and other necessities. H Ju Go Ju members were helpful in leading exercise classes at the Sunshine School. The two groups joined forces to participate in a road block to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy foundation. Galaxy, for the third consecutive year, captured the A team volleyball championship, also placing high in A team basketball competition. They were also strong contenders for the allsports trophy. A second-place finish in slow-pitch softball was the high point in Ju Go Ju's athletic record. The girls also competed in speedball, volleyball and basketball. Devotionals shared by the two clubs "help members to draw closer to each other and to God," expressed Galaxy member Ken Bissell. Parties also served to strengthen the clubs ' relationship to each other. A cookout at Wyldewood was one of the initial activities of the year. followed by a skating party, Christmas party and Valentine's party. To climax . the year, Ju Go Ju and Galaxy pooled their ideas and their talents in a Spring Sing production with a theme of "Bones." - Don Hofland 253 JuGoJu
