U I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me," the club motto of Sigma Phi Mu. represented the views of the newly-formed women's cluh. The club was formed to meet the needs of a growing student body. according to Maribeth Downing, Dean of women. Forming the new club involved making many decisions. Decisions made included the club colors, ~ed. blue, and gray; the dub 240 Sigma Phi Sigma Phi emblem. the sailboat; the club song, "The Steadfast Love;" and the club flower. a white rose. Sigma Phi Mu members selected Dave Parker, Richard Machen, and J. D. Yingling as their beaux. Mrs. Daughety. Connie Cloer. and Megan Stout assited the club as their sponsors. Since the club was not formed until the beginning of the spring semester. they did not have many activities, but their first major Valentine's Party a First event was a Valentine's party. They also activitely participated in women's club sports . The club's proposed service projects included working with JOY's Elderly Committee and being ushers in Spring Sing. Their main goal was for every member to get involved in every aspect of the club. 1. SUCCESSFULLY eluding K.
