Back Row: Man - on tour with the Spring Sing hosts and hostesses through Texas, stopping in such cities as Dallas, Fort Worth and Corpus Christi. The stage band's biggest production was the annual Spring Sing. The band provided entertainment between individual club shows and accompanied the hosts and hostesses_ Second-year director Mark Hudson said, ''Overall this was about the best group of musicians we've had since I've been a student here." - Rene Lindsey The main purpose of the Pep Band was to provide entertainment and excitement at all the Bison home basketball games. The Pep Band, taken out of the larger band, was led by Jan Sykes this year. Throughout the spring semester, the group of approximately 25 musIcians played what senior trumpet player Kevin Isenberg ning, Bruce, Dillard. McNeal, Duer, Isenberg. called "a mixture of pieces." Popular songs were featured alongside show tunes and marches in many cases. The band played diverse songs such as "Rocky," "Spanish Dreams," " Olympic Fanfare," "1980" and "Muppet Movie Theme." Practices for the band usually involved coming to the games 45 minutes ahead of schedule. Then, plans were made and difficult parts rehearsed. - Jimmy Allen 1. PEP BAND. Front Row: Ewart. Hawkin s.
