Orange lights spotlighted the solitary copper pyramid on the expansive stage. A synthesized melody began and the crowd of almost 3000 hushed with anticipation. Smoke spewed from underneath the top of the pyramid as it fell back, revealing Michael Iceberg at work, and with an electronic version of Harding's Alma Mater, he won the audience from the beginning: On leave from his job as the "resident madman of Tomorrowland" at Disney World, Iceberg was brought to Harding by the Student Activities Committee of the Student Association and the Fine Arts Lyceum. In a 90-minute performance, the musician played selections to suit a variety of tastes, from Moody Blues to Bach, from fI Amazing Grace" to "Stairway to Heaven." The musician was "knocked down by the positive response" from his audience. Over 200 students attended the dinic preceding the concert in which Iceberg explained the workings of his Machine. The first concert to be held in the Benson Auditoriumr it drew almost a fun house. Greeted with a standing ovation at the beginning of his show, he received two encores at the dose.
