32 Rainmaker Rainmaker takes five awards During October, another notso-well known production was being pulled together on campus. "The Rainmaker," a comedydrama in three acts by Richard Nash, was fine tuned for competition in the American College Theatre Festival in Little Rock October 24. - Directed. by Assistant Professor of Speech Morris Ellis, the play fared well in the judging. Freshman Kim Swink, in the only female role. received an Outstanding Acting award, as did Joe Aaron and Steve Holder. The show also received top honors for props and set. Dale McCoy appeared as a widowed father 'of a rural midwestern family I and Robin Cannon was cast in the title role. With productions from colleges and universities statewide, 'The Rainmaker" was judged by a panel during a performance. The following day, the cast returned to be interviewed and critiqued by judges, found the family atmosphere exhibited by the players ' "'Extremely believable,"' and commented that the closeness of the cast was reflected in the quality of the performance. 'The Rainmaker,"' and UALR's entry, "Cabaret/' became eligible to continue in regional competition at Fort Worth, Texas. ftMl •
