-- most unique place in Searcy," said Carolyn Melton, talent coordina tor, waitress and performer. On Friday nights from 7:00 to 8:00 customers were able to eat a buffet dinner and from 8:00 to 9:00 enjoy an hour of ente rta in - ment. Entertainers were chosen by Melton and assistant Tim Smith on the basis of tryouts. 'We thought it would be fun to offer Harding students as well as Searcy residents the opportunity to display their talents in front of a live aueience," said Melton, Don Jackson, a senior from Olive Branch, Mississippi , said, "When I performed last September not many people knew about the Green Barn, so the audience was kind of small. 1 played some 50's Rock and RolL some Elvis songs and some origi nal pop compositions; I also played the piano a little." Senior Cayla Shipp from Tallahassee, Florida said, "Performing at the Green Barn is different tha n performing at Harding because there's no di rector and you' re in charge of what you do. " In aiL about 25 Harding students and staff members performed at the Green Barn this year . Besides atmosphere and entertainment, the Green Barn was also known for its food. Senior Charles Murphy of Searcy ate there several times this year during the Sunday noon buffet. He described lunch as "good, home-cooked food " which was moderatel y priced. The Green Barn also ca tered several Christmas parties fo r Harding social clubs and some weddings, rehearsals and reunions, and cakes were baked for cus tome r s who visited the restaurant on their birthdays. She added that she and Guthrie hope to start having a dinner and show on Saturday nigh ts as well, and that their dream is to build the Green Barn into a reservationsonly business where Christians can come and enjoy themsel ves and have fun. - Jana-Lynll Smith T...,a Enloe • Doniphan, MO JiM Erskin • Riverside, CA T..,. bM"S • Paragould , AR c..ille bans • Hatboro, PA lelly Jo h.no~ • Clearwoter, fl Ontory fair· lufki n, TX Lori f,hs • Tucson , AZ Me", Felts • Pollard , AR lelly ferrell • RoUa , MO ...,.., fitldtr • McCrory, AR -..,..t fiItdI • Son Jose, CA Petrida finney • Vicksburg, MS Gertth Flenary • Mauthcard, KY Monda fletcher - Honson, KY Marl!
