Why do I have to leave all of my great friends1 Where can I be the most effective serving God?" Many Harding students, especially seniors, were bothered by some or all of these questions as graduation neared this year. Some, however. were able to successfully answer all three questions with one solution: team evangelism. Teams formed to go to the city of Chicago; areas in the states of Washington, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota and New Jersey; the nation of Canada. "The advantages of a group etfort are parallel with the advantages of the church," said Mitch Durham, student leader of the Washington team. 'There are mutual goals, fellowship , encouragement, a variety of talents and a spread of responsibilities; and there is strength in numbers. " When asked if he felt team evangelism was an effective method, Durham quickly responded, "It's the only way!" An eight-member group , composed of Ron and Twiggy Adams, Jake and Nancy Jensen, Steve and Ann Frazier, Barbara Sabo and David Hayden, plans to start a congregation in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Both Steve and Jake have lived in Wisconsin for twenty years and are familiar with the area in which the group will work. The men will share the preaching duties: the first year and then will possibly hire a full-time evangelist. The group also plans to be self-supporting, with each member working in a secular occupation . Each member has committed himself to the effort for five years . This commitment has been reflected by the group's preparation. The members met together regularly during the fan and spring semesters this year. On Sunday nights they studied a book, Struggles of the Kingdom , by James Woodroof and discussed how to handle possible problem situations to be encountered on the mission field. During the week the men and women met separately to pray and to get to know each other better. The members of the groups indicated that they thought Jesus also felt a team effort was the best way to evangelize, because he began with a group of twelve men. After finishing their schooling with the Master Teacher , they went with their best friends and told people about the Lord . The whole world heard the gospel of Jesus Christ through the efforts of team evangelism. Each mission team believes that this is still possible today. {fJj - Steve Awtrey WORKING closely with other team members, Twiggy and ROil Adams and David Hayden share the goals and respotlsibilities of evangelism.
