• '0 Caving weekends The-Spelunkers, or caving club, continued their exploration of the subterranian world, visiting caves throughout Arkansas and sou thern Missouri. On almost any given weekend club members could be seen gathering in the early morning hours at the Ganus Building parking lot. From the re they would depart for either vertical cav ing trips, requiring crawling through low vertical passageways, or horizontal trips which ca lled for rappelling down into the dark depths. One cave which members visited was Alexander Cave nea r Mountain Home. Club members compared the cave in size and beauty to Blanchard Springs Caverns. In a truly exploratory contex t, the Spelunkers visited Cushman Blowing Cave near Cushman and searched for passageways which could lead to an old mine system. The regular entrance to the mine had been bull-dozed closed. Although some consider caving dangerous at best, "When you follow the rules there isn't much problem," related Spelun ker Doug Fonville. 6!ffi ROCK CLIMBER Brian Morgan explores Alexander Cave.
