Time out for worship The football team and its coaches made their huddle in Room 100 of the new gym, this time not to review game strategy or to devise a new defensive attack, but to sing, pray, read scripture and hear a Bible message. Witt explained. "It really brings us together spiritually," Witt continued. ''The majority of the team are members of the church, and it's a time we can really get built up by singing and praying together." "It 's known to people as 'football church' or 'Prock's chapeI.' " said offensive lineman Jay Witt with a grin. "To me, it's a time for worship and fellowship open to non-football players as well ." Throughout the football season,Jearn members , along with other athletes and interested persons gather each Wednesday for a devotional , singing and fellowship period. " The relaxed atmosphere has always been an advantage of the services, which Prock said were held on the bleachers prior to the construction of the new athletic center. Attendance for " football church" averages around 100, with 25 to 30 of these being nonfootball players , said Witt . People from the track team, A Cappella chorus and the coaches' wives usually attend, and "anyone else is welcome to come," Witt said.
