Club closeness was developed in part through outings. A Halloween party in a nearby barn provided apple bobbing and horror story telling for Kirei members. Later in the fall members had a hayride and a devotional around a campfire. The club had a Christmas party at sponsor Mary Johnson's home. Santa Claus visited the group, and the members' dates sat on his lap and made holiday requests before receiving their stockings full of goodies. Kirei participated in club sports where they emphasized "showing love and respect for each other and the other team, " according to Harris. f,;) 1.
