Just as people differ , so do their opinions to the idea of being expected to attend chapel each day. Though some students favor chapel and make comments such as "Chapel is informative, all my friends are there, and it is a break in the day to collect my thoughts," or "I like to go to chapel to see my boyfriend ," there are still those who disfavor chapel and show their lack of interest by excessive absences. To prevent a letter from the dean for "over the quota" absences, many students fill out chapel excuses which can reveal some very amusing reasons why there are empty seats. A required chapel period seemed a point of stress to the married student who wrote , "My wife works and the only time we have together is during the lunch hour, and we need this time to get things done. " The advice of one might be to have chapel only on sunny days since she wrote , "Rain. I don't like to walk in rain. My feet are now already soaked." Th e re seemed a conflict of concern to the RA who wrote, "Was doing roomcheck for cleanliness and purity and to save our young men from the pits and dens of iniquity and sin ."
