Mitchell: W it h those changes in mUSiC, who will be the music king of the future? Gilley: Most people are turned off by punk. They want something more palatable. Mitchell : Such as? Gilley: It seems to me that the world situation dictates the music. Right now, music repre · sents escapism with little or no social comment. people were dancing prior to the Vietnam War ; the war changed all that. The thing that scares me most now is the move towards Left , TAKING advantage of a sale in the bookstore, Karen Cole looks through some records. Gilley: If the junior high and younger kids don't outgrow KISS , then expect them to be the superband of the eighties. The kids will either outgrow them or grow up with them. Mitchell: You have made some fairly specific predictions about music trends in the eighties. With that decade less than a year away, how ac· curate do you feel your prediCtions will be?
