D. degree in clinical psychology at the University of Bangalore, Dr. Gary Walker, a Harding graduate. served as visiting missionary for 1978-79. Also new on the faculty was Tom Alexander as Paul Pollard was on leave pursuing the Ph.D. degree in New Testament at Baylor University. Bible Department hosts Christian workshops Highlighting the activities of the Bible Department in 1978 was the 13-in-1 Workshop conducted August 7-10. Visitors from 43 states and five foreign countries were in attendance and 89 speakers from 17 states comprised the teaching staff. One of the 13 workshops was the 21st annual National Campus Ministers Workshop, held for the first time on a Christian college campus. The largest crowd ever assembled on the Harding campus, 5,530 gathered In the new gymnasium for the Wednesday evening session with Jimmy Allen speaking. The fall lectureship in October developed the theme, "How Great Thou Art," and the spring Preachers' Forum considered the topic, "Elders: A Biblical View." Workshops plarlOed for the summer include a counseling workshop co-hosted by the Psychology Department in June; the Death and Dying Workshop ir July (the first of its kind to be held on a Christian college campus); and the 4 -in-1 Workshop in August featuring special classes for preachers, church leaders, women and Required attendance of all Bible majors gave greater emphasis to the Timothy Club this year. Bible spring During the summer of 1978, 99 students were involved in six-week campaigns in Brazil, Austria, Holland, Germa~y, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Wales and Australia. Approximately 50 students were involved in additional campaigns to Austria, Korea and other plac.es. Twenty-two students worked in the Russian Campaign and ten students participated in the Venezuelan Campaign.
