1978-1979 Yearbook

.~ -------' Senior Curtis Dupriest began his football career in the seventh grade, and has continued throughout college. With AIIConference honors from his junior and senior years of high school, Dupriest was a great asset to the Bisons. College football, however, is somewhat different than high school ball . Beginning around the 17th of August , the Bison team began practice for the season. Dividing into groups, the team had three vigorous workouts per day to get into shape for the first game. Curtis believes Harding had a very good team. "From the very start we knew we had the potential of being a ,very good ball club. We had more returning seniors on the team than ever before. We had a lot of quality players and were stacked in almost every position, as far as first teams go. We had a whole team entact and remained in pretty good conference position until the last two ballgames." Good commun ication and strategy was most important. Dupriest stated, "Usually on Friday before the game, coach would te ll us what kinds of plays we were going to run . Right before the game Coach Prock gets with the quarterback, because he's the man that will be calling the plays." Injuries aTe quite common among football teams and play an important part in the success of a team. 'This is one of the best years we've had as far as injuries go," remarked Curtis. Curtis was injured in the seventh game of the season, putting him out of the last three games. "The only time it really bothered me was when we'd have a breakdown in a play and I thought maybe I could've done something to prevent it." Next year's team will have some work to do as fifteen seniors will be graduating. "We always have a respectible team because of the coaches we have. They're extremely good coaches," 146 ~ Football "' ...... .- ....... "~".v:. .. ;;,·,~~~-,·
