1978-1979 Yearbook

"We're probably one of the first teams in the country. We've got a lot of team spirit , the attitude is really high, and we've won both our conferences this year . We're winners and we can think like winners." This was sophomore Mike Bedwell's main attitude towards the Bison Bowling team of which he is a member . Coming from Sikeston , Missouri , Mike got involved with the Bison Bowlers through Bryan Davis, one of the Bisons' top bowlers. "Bryan helped me raise my average, and it was the work he did with me that helped me get to where I was." Bowling between 40 and 50 games per week, Mike makes the best possible use of his practice time . "It's a matter of keeping my timing and practicing shooting single pins, and making sure my delivery is the same over and over again, " remarked Bedwell . As the results of a bowling tournament required top performance by all members on the team, there is a great deal of pressure placed on each player. · "It's a matter of tournament experience whether you're nervous or not. I know what I have to do , and I just try to go out and do my best," stated Bedwell. Concerning the tremendous success of the bowling team over past years , Mike had this to say: "The bowling team perpetuates a winning season one after the other because the older members teach the younger members how to bowl. And, unlimited practice time at the bowling alley gives everybody the opportunity to progress at their own rate Jnd improve as they'd like to. " 138. Bowling
