The squad won six sweepstakes awards in the 11 tournaments they entered. Two members were added to the faculty this year, Mr. Charles Parker and Mrs . Patrecia Brant . Parker returned to his alma mater from David Lipscomb. Mrs. Brant, Wife of Speech Professor Billy Brant, presented a paper entitled "The Teaching of Speech in Secondary Schools in Arkansas" at the fall Arkansas Speech Communication Association Con - vention. Dr. Evan Ulrey, chairman of the department, served as national president of Pi Kappa Delta during 1976-77 and served as editor of the Arkansas Speech Communications Assoociation 's publication entit led Speech in Arkansas.
