formance . Housing was again a problem, even though five houses ho ldi ng a possible 37 students were opened for the first t ime for student occupancy. The women's dormswere fi ll ed to capac ity, forcing 14 women to li ve off campus in homes unt il housing could be arranged for them. The first week found an overload of 51 in Cathcart , 22 in Patti Cobb, 53 in Armstrong and 16 in Grad Doubles. The overl oad had only decreased by 32 by the end of September. Even in the overcrowded rooms, necessary adj ustments were made and Harding became our home away from home. There were many fi rst week act iv it ies to aid in those ad justments , and from the beginning it was a busy year. 1. CARAVANS of cars, trucks , and even mobile homes with U-hauls pour on to campus as students from all over the United States move into their Harding home away from home . 2. REGISTRATION lines dribble through the rows of tables in the Hcri tage lobby as teachers assist students in the tedious task of counseling fOf the fall semester. 3. LEANNE NICHOLS begins the exhausting trail between her car and her Cathcart room. 4. WEARY from long registration lines and endless forms to be filled out, freshman Amy Kerwin recopies her fall class schedule. 5. BRINGING used books to be sold at the SA Book Exchange, students make extra money to begin thc fall semester. 6.
