ELEMENTARY ___ ~ __________ STudENTS lEARN iMpORTANCE of GiviNG Elementary students were put into the Christmas spirit this year by the annua l Chri stmas program directed by Mrs. Henry. This year the primary grades opened the program with Christmas greetings fo ll owed by catchy rec itat ions , monologues , drill s and Chri stmas songs . Th e intermediate grades then fo llowed with two plays. The first one e ntitled "Chri stmas is Remember ing" dealt with a group of ch ildren who were discussing Chri stmas plans when they rea li zed they were thinking only of t hings for themse lves and not for others . After do ing things for those less fortunate , they dec ided it was tr uly 352 • Elementary School "more blessed to give than fo receive ." The second play, "Santa Sat and Sat and Sat" to ld about the Chri stmas when Santa over-worked himse lf and the elves were afraid there would not be Christmas that year. Knowing that something had to be done , the elves came up with the idea of a Christmas singing bee where the elves sang for Santa . And sure enough it worked. Motivated by the play "Chri stmas is Remembering ," the e leme nta ry students visited the Oakdal e Nursing Home, where they sang Christmas carols and gave fruit baskets to the res idents the re. 9
