JO~NT EffORTS Sing a song Under the direct ion of Clifton Ganus III , the Chorale toured Arkansas, Tennessee, Mi ssouri , and Illino i s du ring the fall semest er. These two short tours helped prepare members for parti cipation in the 12t h annual Christian College Choral Fest ival held at Pepperdin e Uni versity in January . Ret urnin g to schoo l earl y fr om Chr istmas vacation allowed t hree weeks for travelling, giv ing programs, and sight-seeing. Several programs were held in Arkansas, Texas, New M ex i co, A rizon a, Oklahoma and Cali forni a. After arri v ing in Cali forni a, members enjoyed visiting Tijuana, Los Ange les, and San Diego. January 15th was t he day of return - back to campus and studying. To bf>gi n the spring semester, t he Chora le conducted a youth rally in Fai rhope, Alabama on January 28. Later spri ng act iv i t ies included a major concert featuring secular music and a major work performed with the Hard ing Orchestra. Chamber Singers , a group chosen by aud it ions from Chora le members, presented programs throughout t he year in several hi gh schools. They al so performed for the student body in a chapel program and in the final music department concert. The on ly membership requirement for the newly formed Campus Singers was a genuine love of singing. Under th e d i rec tion of Kenneth Dav i s students f rom several different majors comb ined their vo ices to entertai n many audiences on or near campus. To begin the year a devotional was held at the home of Dr. Davi s where futu re plans were di scussed and a spirit of unity establi shed. A formal banquet was one of the year's special events. Jonathan Cloud and Crai g Jones added to the excitement of the evening w ith entertainment and many of the music faculty were inv ited as honored guest s. The Campus Singers performed for the student body in one of the dail y chapel programs during the f all semester and al so participated in the spr ing musical concert. 230 • Ch(M"al Groups
