With onl y three of the netter' s top eight players returni ng, the Bisons had the big task of defending their A IC crown. But everyth ing wasn't hopeless for the 77 tennis team . Coach Elliott stated, "We have the best crop of talent and potent ial that we have ever had at Harding." And this proved true as the Hard ing netters won their first home game against Arkansas College 12-0. The Bisons later defeated SAU, Co ll ege of the Ozarks, and Hendrix in a marathon here at Hard ing. The netters had a record scor ing of 15-5 aher playing three matches in less than thirty hours. Clos ing out their regular season on a wi nning note, the netters downed Hendr ix 9-0 at Conway . Ranked at the top of their d iv ision, the Harding squad participated in the three-day AIC tournament held in Conway. The final results of this match were disappointing as Ouachita Baptist University edged the Bisons by two points, scor ing 30-28, and .result ing in a loss of the Bi sons' AIC crown. Tennis ·189
