The trip brings momentous decisions such as whether to "eat now or at the next McDonald's" 100 miles down the interstate, which radio station to listen to and which person is still awake enough to drive. One learns to sleep in almost any position and discovers which service stations usually have the cleanest restrooms along with the lowest prices. There is always the tire that goes flat when it is 20 degrees below zero, the engine that refuses to turn over as you leave the restaurant and the highway patrol watching for any false move. Finally, after endless hours on the road - the state line, the city limits and HOME. You pull in the driveway, hug your family and it's over - until the return trip.
