Initial week sees record occupancy and new dormitory With the slamming of trunk lids , over 2,600 students converged on campus the week of August 24. The new women's dormitory. housing 300 women, helped to relieve overcrowding. The Heritage Center reversed roles as male students took over the dormitory. A reception in honor of freshmen students and their parents was held on Sunday afternoon. Counseling sessions were held Monday and Tuesday and registration activities were moved up a day to Wednesday. By Thursday al'l the line-standing and form-filling was completed as all classes met and chapel seats filled for the welcome from President Ganus. The S.A. helped relieve the frustrations of the week by supplying free cokes during registration lines Tuesday and Wednesday, sponsoring a lily pool devotional and offering nightly movies, including "The Sting." Many students participated in the freshmantransfer talent show Thursday night, and all enjoyed the watermelon feed on Friday. On Saturday night the first lyceum of the year featuring The Overland Stage Company concluded the week's activities. A new year at Harding had begun. 54 / FIRST WEEK
