Buffaloes swim away with Ale title, Kahla high scorer Defeating the 10 year champion, Hendrix College, the Harding Water Buffaloes won the 13th AIC Swimming and Diving Champ ionships after winning three consecutive AIC second places in the last three years. The Bisons won 7 events and totalled 136112 points to overwhelmingly defeat the distant second place Hendrix with 87· 112 points. Freshman Norman Kahla led the Bisons winning first place in the 100, 200, and SOQ·yard freestyle events and anchored the 4oo·yard freestyle relay team. Kahla defeated the conference champion in the loo-yard freestyle to set a new school record at 52.7. After setting a school record in the SOQ·yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.2, he anchored the 4oo·yard relay composed of Wendall Cave, Dan Duclos and Tim Hughes, which finished first with a time of 3:35.2 to establish another school record. Another Freshman, Steve North, defeated the defending AIC champion to set a new school record in the 200yard backstroke. Senior Mark Trotter became the first diver in AIC history to win the one· meter diving championship four years in a row. Norman Kahla won the high point trophy with 24·112 points and Dale Linge was runnerup with 18·112 points. 1. SURGING forward, Danny Duclos swims the 200~yard butterfly. 2.
