Fifteen Harding Athletes achieve Ale recognition Providing a well-balanced intercollegiate athletic program in the nine sports sponsored by the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference, Harding College ranked second in the AlC AllSports competition. Jamie Cowley, a social science major and a three-year lett erman in basketball, received the 1974 AlC Scholar-Athlete Award with a 3.844 cumulative average, the ninth Bison in 16 years to receive this award. Bison athletes not only exhibited good team performance, but several athletes excelled in their respective sports. Barney Crawford made the Kodak Division II All-American First Team as a defensive tackle, the first Harding athlete to receive this recognition, and was chosen by the Miami Dolphins in the eighth round of the professional draft.
