Harding builds on superior talent in all five positions Superstar Butch Gardner averaged over 21 points per game to lead the AlC in scoring and pulled in an average of 10 rebounds. Although he was only a sophomore, he became the ninth Bison basketball player to score over 1,000 points in a career. Harding had two talented forwards, junior Gary Baker and freshman James Winston. The t rio of Gardner, Baker and Winston averaged 27 rebounds and 4S points per game. Tony Sneed, a junior transfer from Memphis was the hometown fans favorite. He averaged over eight points per game, but was most noted for his aggressive ball handling. Jerry Morgan, Joey Williams and Randy Mulvaney also contributed to the team by all averaging over 46 percent in field goal attempts. BASKETBALL / 255
