Injury losses slow Bison gridders in AIC competition Harding opened its 1974 season with impressive victories over Missouri Western and Northeast Missouri . Hopes for the AIC title faded as the Herd was shutout in its first two conference games against a nationally ranked Henderson and a very tough Ouachita team. The team celebrated Homecoming by winning its first conference game in a very tough defensive battle. After a disappointing game agai.nst Texas Luthern , the Herd came back to win two more conference games and tying an excellent SCA team on a rain soaked field. Harding's season was highlighted by the all-AIC selection of Barney Crawford , who was also named national defensive lineman of the week in the NAIA.
