Special education, kindergarten added for teaching majors Kindergarten certification and a major in Special Education were added to the education program in the fall of 1973. Mrs. Lois Brown joined the faculty to direct these programs. Workshops in Ecology and Language Arts were conducted and the department helped area schools in training teacher aids and consulting roles. A workshop on Bible teaching was planned for 1974. Dr. Edward G. Sewell was appointed to a three-year term on the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education Board, was active in the Arkansas Association for Supervision and Curriculum, and was chainnan of a North Carolina NCATE-evaluation team. Dr. Jerome Barnes served on a Mississippi NCATE-evaluation team. 1. EXAMINING pine cones is one of the delights of Mrs. Brown's special -education class. 2.
