Faculty stresses close association with student body A closeness existed between the faculty and students of Harding, a closeness that developed from a genuine recognition of leadership and dedication and from a common con· viction in brotherhood. The teachers conveyed their interest to the students in the classroom, but they also tried to acquaint themselves with the students' everyday activities. Sponsoring social clubs and student organizations kept the faculty in close contact with the students. However, it was still the understanding and encouragement on a one·to·one basis which provided the core of concern which makes Harding unique. 1. CARTING returned library books, Cindy Pope arranges books for reshelving. 2. DONATING blood to the Red Cross, Mike Justus utilizes the time by reading class assignments. 3. PAUSING from her reading to chat with Steve Tullos, Pam Cheney finds the swings a relaxing place to study. 4. TERM papers and book reviews cause Evelyn Walls to seek aid from the card catalog. 5. BOOKSTORE lines prove long and hectic to students during the initial weeks of each semester. 6. DISPLAYING a casual at· mosphere in chemistry lab. Mike Hanks conducts experiments for daily assignments. 7. INFORMATION cards and forms needing attention, Debbie Geiger finds a quiet place to complete the registration process. 70 / ACADEMICS
