Candle light initiation welcomes nine Under the dim glow of a candle light initiation, nine girls pledged themselves to the SUB-DEB motto " Build for tomorrow, yesterday is dead. " The ceremony, begun with the clu b in 1938, was preceeded by a tea and a trying pledge week. Aided by the addition of club beaux Tommy Carr and Marc Showalter, the club continued it' s tradition of service by offering free snacks to the school. The girls built bonds of fellowship by selecting secret pals, known as peanuts, with whom they shared special surprises. A progressive 'Christmas dinner set the pace for the years activities which were brought to a close by the annual banquet held in the spring at Bill 's Restaurant . --
