BASEBALL Bison completes best season ever as pitching shines Although the team hit well in several games, individual averages were not consistent enough to provide a dependable threat. Denny Dotson topped the team with a .305 batt ing average. Led by Joe Mathias, Harding's fourman pitching staff was largely responsible for the record season. Mathias, a sophomore, fin ished the year with a 7-2 record and a 1.38 earned run aver· age. The remai nder of the foursom< was composed of Ken Merritt. Rober> Helver ing and Doug White.
