The next week against Mississippi College, the team rebounded with a 20-14 non-conference win, and then playing the University of Arkansas at Monticello, the Herd was upset, 19-12. Harding was handed a 21-19 setback by Ouachita before the Homecoming crowd, and at Pine Bluff against Arkansas AM&N, the squad was overwhelmed 45-14. Coordinated team play brought about a 24-3 victory over Henderson. Tech's nationally ranked Wonder Boy s thwarted the Bison, 52-14, but a 20-7 win over SCA gave Harding an even 5-5 season.
