MUSIC GROUPS A Cappella gains competitive honors on European tour Summer attendance of an International Choral Festival at the Hague in the Netherlands highlighted the schedule of the A Cappella chorus's overseas summer tour. The group placed fourth among the seventy-one choruses that participated. For their fall tour the A Cappella made an extensive trip through the local southern states. Members of the chorus formed the Men's and Women's Ensembles and were also included in each performance of the A Cappella. The spring tour took the groups through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona , and Oklahoma. Programs that would demonstrate the varied talents represented in the Belles and Beaux replaced the former concentration on specific themes. The selections ranged from religious tunes to hits of the '40's, and from contemporary to patriotic songs. The group provided entertainment for the Searcy Chamber of Commerce Dinner hosted by Harding in the American Heritage and for the Chamber of Commerce in Helena, Arkansas. Their winter tour included stops in Florence and Huntsville, Alabama ; Chattanooga and Memphis, Tennessee; and the Memorial Symphony Hall in Atlanta, Georgia. 155
