TRACK Team depends on quality rather than quantity Lack of team depth hampered the Bison track and field crew, but strong individual performances highlighted the track season. The team won only one meet, a tie with Arkansas A&M, but several individual competitors reccrded victories in single events. Three Harding records and one AIC mark reU 10 the 1970 team. Senior Jim Duncan' s toss of 60'1"' broke the previous AIC record by nearly seven feet. School records and AIC titles in both shot put and discus were also achieved by the Bison weightman. Two 440-yard trackmen, David Byrd and Rick Harris, both broke the 50 second barrier. David Byrd's time of 48.5 in the AIC meet set a new school mark. Tim Geary, John Ratliff, and Dave Embry aided the team great ly in the distance events. The hurdler chores were performed weU by senior Charles Kiser.
