COACHING STAFF Coaches inspire the striving for sports excellence The Harding College athletic teams, under the guidance of ten coaches, participated in all nine sports sponsored by the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference. The Bisons earned championships in two spring sports, tennis and bowling, to finish third for the 1969-1970 ATC AUSports competition with 65 total points. This was just two and a half points out of first place which was held by State College. Harding coaches included: John Prock, head football ; Dick Johnson, assistant football and baseball; Jerry Mote, assistant football ; Cliff Sharp, assistant football and track; Jess Bucy, head basketball; Ted Lloyd, cross country and track; Don Berryhill, Swimming; Ed Burt, bowling; Norman Merritt, golf; Bob Knight, tennis; Karyl Bailey, assistant basketball. Ted Lloyd returned after assisting in the Panama track program. 178
