The Harding Academy Wildcats bega n the 1967 football season with strong spiri t and hi gh h opes but with little exper ience in their line-up . The tough schedule which the Wildcats faced took i ts toll as they ended the season w ith a 2-7 r ecord . Coaches Ed Higginbotham and Cliff Sh arp made the mos t of the situa tion by r ecordin g two victori es again st one de feat in di stri ct play to fini sh i n second pla ce behind DeValls Blu ff. It was an unusual season in which Harding had many ups and down s. Throughout th e season, th e vVildca ts and th e W'ildcat team supporter s ex hibited an outstand - ing and unmatch ed spirit of loyalty a nd dedi cati on . The Wildcats are proud of an attitude th ey keep that says they may never quit or let down at an y time. Four Wildcats were selec ted for pos iti ons on the a ll -di strict team in r ecognition of th e ir indi vidual achievements and in tr ibute to th e fine coach ing they r eceived during th e season from th e I-l arding coaches.
