Greek tragedies highlight '67-'68 drama year Uniqueness characterized the two malor drama productions of 1967-68 as tragedies with ancient settings contrasted by themes that depict major problems of modern civilization were presented . Tom Reppart directed the plays and Andy Saunders supervised construction of the sets. Paddy Chayevsky's "Gideon" was presented four evenings during Thanksgiving week in the Ameri - can Heritage Auditorium. Hank McDaniel played the role of Gideon and Bob West represented the angel of Jehovah. A large cast supported these two outstanding actors in dramatizing the biblical passage Judges 6-8. The play depicted what man can accomplish when he walks with God but how quickly man forgets God in times of Success. "The Prodigal" was presented Feb. 15-16 in the College Auditorium as a part of the scheduled lyceum series . Chuck Miller played the leading role of Agmemnon, King of Myceneae, who by mili - tary force attempted to bring culture and civili zation to other Greek provinces. Excepting Greek costumes, setting and references to Greek mythology, the play could easily represent some of the conflicts of modern society. 12? " HOLD still my child! " admonishes Penelope to Electra as she tries to quief the girl to arrange her hair for the day in Argos.
