January 8, Dr. Kenneth Davis, Jr., and 14 stumembers of the Belles and Beaux left Searcy for a nine-week tour of the Far East under the IpOnsorship of the usa and Nati onal Music Council. Thousa nds of hours of rehearsal h ad gone mlo preparing the two shows - "Ameri ca in Song" "Potpourri '68" - which were presented to military personnel in Japan, Kor ea, Iwo Jima, Guam and the Phillipines. This was the fourth overseas tour since the musical performing group organi zed in 1959. Several local appear ances and television shows were presented before the """r<e:os trip. Membership in the 75-member A Cappella was gained through audi tions held at the IOpeni ng of the fall semes ter. Work on the repertoire began immediately after registra tion . The continued its weekly program of hymns about 190 radio stations.
