SWIMMING WATER Buffalo Robert Wallace slices the wafer in the form that promised success in the AIC meet. Water Buffaloes find success in second season In only their second year of intercollegiate swimming the 1966-67 Harding Water Buffaloes found themselves in real competition for the AIC title. Returning lettermen had gained experience the year before while surprising the AIC with a 7-2 record and a fourth place conference finish. When the Petit Jean went to press, the 1966-67 swimmers had achieved a 5-3-1 record against improved competition. The Buffaloes' hopes for the AIC meet rested on proved performers such as Marvin Robertson in the backstroke and David Cole in the 200-yard freestyle. David Bales showed strength in the distance events, and Robert Wallace performed well in diving. Outstanding performances by the relay teams also provided title hopes. COACH John Berryhill oversees swimming practice with an enthusiasm and leadership which help the Buffaloes win important meets. - -
