The 1965 Academy Wildcat track team r acked up victor y a fter vic tory in a r egular season of strenuous competition . Being coun ty and di stri ct ch ampions only whetted the Wildcat s' a ppeti tes wh en it came time to enter the state track meet h eld in Lillie Rock. Plac ing second in the Class B school sta te competi tion, the Cats took two first place categori es. and one second place. F if teen trackstel's took honors in the county meet, setting three new r ecords. In the di stri ct, the academy team h ad thirteen of its m ember s place, winning for th e second time individual honors and selling two new r ecords in the 880 ya rd run and the di scus throw. Bruce H enson and Di cki e Be rryhill wer e the most outstanding member s of th e renown ed gTOUp. H enson 's r ecord in the 880 ya rd run is '2 :06 .5, and Berryhill claimed double honors by capturing the l ead in the 440 yard r elay and r ecording a 46.2 timing.
