MAY DAY Color, pageant, and beauty welcome • • In spring Beauty, pagentry, tradition are inherent in the annual May Fete sponsored by Ju Go Ju women's social club in the spring. The selection of a queen begins in the fall semester when an array of 20 lovely ladies are presented to the student body in a chapel program which centered this year around the theme of "My Fair Lady." Kay Darter was the director . The student body chose three as finalists, then elected a queen. Excitement runs high on that spring afternoon when the revelation of queen is made as she is crowned and her lovely court is presented to the student body and senior day visitors. A select group of young ladies entertain her majesty and her court with the colorful winding of the May pole. Tripping lightly across the lawn, the ladies wind colorful streamers into various patterns to strains from Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers. " It is indeed a fete for spring. Flowers, green grass, spring weather, colorful dresses, and beautiful music are all a part of that memorable afternoon which has long been a tradition ca rried out by the Ju Go Ju Club and Harding College. l HE !.Iage is set for the queen and her cour t to reign O'ler the May Doy event.
