In Preparing outstanding students in social science, business and education for leadership positions through the American Studies Program is a major activity of the Division of Social Science. The general education program in this area consists of a political, economic and historical study of the United States, a survey of European history and a study of international relations. Advanced courses are offered in history, accounting, business, economics, political science, secretarial science, sociology, and social science. The theme for the American Studies Program thi s year was uAmerica's Future." Trips were made to St. Louis in the fall and to Cincinnati in the spring to study business, industrial, and government activities. Visiting speakers and members of the faculty present semi-monthly seminars on some facet of the theme. Dr. Roy Wellborne serves as Chairman of the Division of Social Science; Dr. Clifton L.
