Big Sisters, a select group of upperclass women, correspond regularly with new students during the summer months trying to give them a warm welcome to Harding; answering questions about campus rules, customs, and accommodations; and giving helpful hints about such items as Arkansas weather. The beginning of school is made more pleasant by the helpful attitude and friendly spirit demonstrated by members of this group. New women are given much assistance in adjusting to their new surroundings. Wing parties in the dorms help them in making new acquaintances. Presenting a program depicting school l ife on the Harding campus for women is a first-week-of-school project for this organization. The Big Sisters also sponsor dormitory Christmas parties just before the holidays. INCOMING freshmen, Jeannette Heid and Jean lewis, are given a worm welcome and made to feel at home by big sister, Marilyn Cobb. The Grace Wells Club was organized in the honor of Miss Grace Wells, a former student of Galloway Female College which preceded H arding on the Searcy campus. Miss Wells, a resident of Berkeley, California, endowed Harding College with scholarship funds to be given to worthy girls who need financial help in attending scliool. The club members correspond regularly with Miss Wells and keep a scrapbook recording biographical information about her and about each girl who has received aid since the endowment was presented in 1961.
