WOMEN'S INTRAMURALS PROVIDING out-of-doors exercise during the fall months, softball is rigorously pa rti cipated in by the var ious socia l dubs. Competition was the keynote of women ' s softball this year as top -notch teams vied for the title. Keen competition sparks women's intramurals BALANCING the boll on uplhrus ted f ingertips, Ann Jones steps into position for a set shot as Kappa Phi teammates stand by 10 lend assis tance. 202 Fresh talent in the form of freshmen and transfer students h elped cr ea te a spirited year in women's intramural s. The gu idance of Marge Hayes, di.rcctor of women's in tramurals~ and the formation of a new women's socia l club ignited competition in women 's sports. Miss Hayes directed activit ies for women in softba ll , bowling, volleyball , tennis, ping-pong and badminton. Individual so ftball teams and organized bowling leagues int roduced the busy yea r for women. For the first time in women ' s intramurals bowling l eagues of the various social clubs were set up. Phi Delta became th e team with the highest average. Th e best players from individuals in softball competiti on and social club basketball joined to play in all-star games during the yea r. Oege's and MEA 's battled it out in social club ba ske tball fina ls. Other intramural activities included voll eyball and Tra ck and Field Day. Track and Field Day , h eld each Ma y, climaxed the year of spo.-ts for women and was a choice finale for a busy year in athletics.
