COORDINATING the efforts of the large newspaper staff, BISON Edilar Virg inia Leatherwood shoulders the responsibility of gathering, compil ing , and ed iting the campus news to furnish a student newspaper. BISON HANDLING the financial affa irs of the SISON , Business Manager Don Blair has the task of selling advertisements to businesses in Searcy, plann ing each week' s advertising loyouts , and balancing the budget. The weekly ta bloid requires constant attention. By the time one issue is in th e hands of students, preparations for another have already begun. The Bison began r eceiving critical ratings last year when it subscribed to th e Associated Col - l egiate Press service. As a r esult, the paper received First Class ratings for both semes ters and a guidebook to assist sta ff member s in planning future issues. Highli ghts of th e year for staff m embers in· cluded Arkansas Coll egiate Press conference 'meetings and the awards banquet, given at the close of the year. At th e banquet deserving volunteers received r ecognition for their time and efforts on th e publi ca tion .
