Timmerman, N. Staar, J . Meredith. FTA--Today' 5 J-Iope for Tomorrow FUTURE TEACHERS of America, sponsored by Prof. Ed Sewell, is one of the largest and most acti ve organizations on ca.mpps. Its purpose is to create interest and understanding in the teaching profess ion. Work began this year with a social and a chapel program which began the annual membership drive, culminating in a membership of 110. class in parliamentary procedure, and during National Education Week a radio program was given. Edsel Hughes served as state presid·ent and was elected Secretary at the National Convention. The Florence Ca thcart Chapter sponsored a Sponsors - Mrs. Florence Cathcart, Proressor Ed Sewell. The chapter met bi-monthly for informative programs, consisting of films, panel discussions, guest speakers, and short dramatic skits in an effort to develop better teachers for America's schools.
