THERE WERE MEN OF GOD AS THE wheels of time were turning the 20th century into view, four men, pioneers in their field, were fostering an idea designed and destined to combine and coordinate religion and education. J. A. Harding, David Lipscomb, J. N. Armstrong, and B. F. Rhodes, Sr., believing that to "fear God and keep his commandments-is the whole duty of man," envisioned colleges where the word of God would be given first place in academic endeavor. A vision inspired by Bible truths guided those men through hours of darkness and toil, with a ray of hope and faith drawn ever from Him eternally lighting the way.
