Speech and Home Economics Ve ry importan t on the campus of Harding is the training available in speech and dramatics. Equi pment for this department includes complete sound-recording and transcription equipment for use in the study of pronunciation and voice quality and in radio programs, complete radio and public address equipment, on excellent library covering every course, the Campus Playe r's workshop in which all kinds of costumes and stage scenery are designed and produced, and good stage lighting and sound machinery. Speech is a hobby to Mrs. J. N. Armstrong, head of the Speech Deportment. The high - light of the yea r in thi s deportment is the Annua l Speech Festival. The department of home economics provides fundamental background information and in addit ion excellent laboratory in sewing and cooking, also offering courses in man - agement in home and institutions. Mrs . S. A. Bell, head of the department , is now working toward her Ph .D. degree at the Universi ty of Chicago.
