Both schools were junior c( I and by combining, a standard four-year senior college resulted. The names "Harper" and "Arkansas Christia n College" were disc The new school was named after the one who had done much for education- James A. Harding. The college, called "Ha rding" for the fi rst time in 1925, was now in the very heart of the great fie ld of Churches of Christ and there was to hinder progress. Being located only a short distance from Petit Jean mounta in, the became a favorite spot for outings and hikes-There the first annual was lished and it was only natural that it should be called "Petit Jean". Students for the first time were enrolled from twenty-five stales, prov inces of Canada and O ld M exico. Buildings were more adequale grow th was encouraged . Faculty members moving wit h the school from Harper to Morrilton Dr. ). N. Armst rong who became the president of the new four-year L C. Sears as dean, Professors B. F. Rhodes, G . W . Kieffe r, and S. A. Armstrong, Mrs. Florence Cathcart, Fannie Marie Moody , L O. Roxie Woodring, and Mr. and Mrs . R. R. Caons . Dr. George S. Benson, Dr. W . K. Summitt, and Professors L E. Pryor, E. R. Staplet m Lowery Stapleton, Maurine Rhodes Kingsley and Ethel McClure joined facult y at Morrilton. Dormitories were filled and an equal number were crowded into homes, and classrooms became inadequate to accommodate the number of classes the last three years the school was at Morrilton. For ten years Harding College at Morrilton grew- until 1934 wh Galloway College plant at Searcy became available and another move ed necessary for growth . The plant at Morrilton was later used as the "Southern Christian for orphan children.
