October 22, 1954 • • T ri-Kappa Club Observes Birthday "Happy Birthday to Us" was the theme of the Tri-Kappa meeting Saturday night as members gath– ered at the home Of their sponsor, Mrs. Cliff Ganus for a spaghetti dinner. Meat balls and Italian sauce garnished with .parmesan chees: were served over the spaghetti while green tossed salad and french bread completed the main course. An attractively decorated birthday cake served with peach whip cli– maxed the meal. I 0' The seven candles decorating cake were successfully blown out as club members wished for the club many more happy years. After din– ner the club prophecy, composed by Yvonne Davis and Jo Ann Seay, was read to the group. Special guests for the evening were Dr. Cliff Ganus, Deborah and Clifton Lloyd Ganus, Gracie Coburn and Jessie Lou Smith. -----=== Miss Smith Engaged To Clifton Fondren Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Smith, Endora, announce the forth-coming marriage of their daughter, Jessie Lou, to Mr. Clifton Fondren, Endora. Miss Smith received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Harding College in 1952. While a student here she was active in Campus Players, FTA, intramural sports, and Kappa Kap– pa Kappa social club. At present, she is physic9.1 education instructor at Harding. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Vandagriff of N o w a t a, Okla., are the bride– groom's parents. The Rev. L. N. Moody, pastor of the Main and Oak Street Church of Christ of Jonesboro, officiated be– fore an altar centered with an ar– rangement of white carnations. S e v en-branched candelabra, tall baskets of white gladioli and sprays of Southern smilax com– pleted the setting. Mr. Chapman gave his daughter in marriage. Her gown was styled with a basqUe waist of lace and a full paneled ballerina-length skirt of tulle and lace over duchess sat– in. Her fingertip veil fell from a tulle cap edged with a pearl-em– broidered band, and she carried a white Bible topped with an orchid. :Mrs. Robert Hammerschmidt of Yellville was her sister's matron of honor. She wore a dress of moss green tulle with matching acces– sories and gardenias in her hair. Dan Haugh of Nowata, Okla., s e r v e d as best man, and ushers were Cecil Hendrix of Tulsa and Marshall Jackson of Hardy. . A reception was h e 1d in the home of the bride's parents imme– diately following the ceremony. The bride's table was covered with a cutwork cloth, and decorations were pink asters. Mrs. Marshall Jackson was in charge of the bride's book. For her :wedding trip, Mrs. Vll;n– dwaff chose a navy blue raw s1lk dress wi.tb a wide w h i t e collar, white acce$50ries, and an orchid corsage. The couple will live in Tulsa. Following the tea hour, Miss Jo Lilly, assistant librarian, gave the to more than 125 guests.
