Winnie Bell Going Away Party
June 27, 2007 Miss Winnie Bell 32 Indian Trail Searcy, AR 72143 Dear Winnie: HARDING==::=:::;i U N V E R S C. FLOYD DAN I EL SE NI O R V I CE PRES I DE NT T y I hope this finds you well. I regret that I was unable to be at the reception to honor you, along with many others, last Saturday afternoon at the fellowship room in the college church building. I had to be in California on a university trip the first part of the week and had a commitment from 11 :00 Saturday morning until 6:00 Saturday evening. When I received Edwina's letter inviting me to attend the reception several months ago I was so excited because all of us present would be following the admonition of the Lord to us to give honor to whom honor is due. You certainly are a person that deserved honor. Even though I was not able to be present I did want to write this letter to you to express my love, respect and appreciation for the blessing you have been to me for the 42 years I have been in Searcy as a mentor, a Wonderful example of what a Christian servant is and for being able to see Jesus through you across the years. Winnie, when I think of a Christian servant and a generous giver I think of you. I believe the greatest thing that I and others have witnessed in your life is the first giving of yourself to Jesus. That is the only way I can explain who you are and what you do for good for God in the lives of so many people. Three things especially stand out in my mind in reference to you over the last 42 years. One is the quiet but very effective way in which you served and lead in your years in the library on the Harding campus. Second, those you chose not to marry anyone other than Christ, nevertheless I admire and commend you for adopting children and, therefore, being a real mother to those two daughters. Thirdly, is your unfailing faithfulness to the Father and the church His son established. I especially appreciate the many years and the many, many people you have taught the gospel through your participation in World Bible School. You also have done a wonderful job in giving leadership to WBS among other members at the college congregation. Only God knows the children that are serving Him throughout the world that you had a part in initially teaching someone that was lost who came to Jesus and in tum have taught others.
